How to Monitor your Ubiquiti Unifi Security Gateway (USG/UDM) uptime (Using UptimeRobot.com)

Step 1:

• Login to your UniFi Network Portal.
• Go to Settings. -> Security ->  Internet Threat Management
• Scroll down to Firewall, Expand the section
• Scroll past your rules to Groups section
• Click the Create a New Group.

             Name: UptimeRobot
             Type:     IPv4 Address/Subnet

Get the IP’s from UptimeRobot.com’s site –https://uptimerobot.com/help/locations/
Enter the IP’s  then save your changes.

Step 2:

• Go to Settings. -> Security ->  Internet Threat Management
• Scroll down to Firewall.  – Create new Rule.

    Type: Internet Local
    Description: ICMP Echo Request UptimeRobot
    Enabled : True
    Rule Applied: Before
    Action : Accept
    IPv4 Protocol : ICMP
    IPv4 ICMP Type Name: Echo Request

• Expand Source and enter the following
  Source Type: Address/Port Group
  IPv4Address Group: UptimeRobot (Select the group we created previously)
  Port Group: Any
• Save your changes.

Step 3:

• Create a second New RuleType: Internet Local
  Description: ICMP Echo Reply UptimeRobot
  Enabled: True
  Rule Applied: Before
  Action : Accept
  IPv4 Protocol: ICMP
  IPv4 ICMP Type Name: Echo ReplySource Type: Address/Port Group
  IPv4 Address Group: UptimeRobot (as previously created)
  Port Group: Any

Once this has been completed, you can then create the UptimeRobot monitor to monitor the site via IP address.

Either using the IP address (If static) or domain name if available.
